Most men don’t fall apart all at once.
It happens slowly.
The way a house settles —quiet, patient. Inevitable.
You wake up one morning and you realize you’ve been living on autopilot for years.
The meetings, the deadlines. The kids' schedules. The takeout containers stacked like geological layers of good intentions.
Somewhere along the way, your body stopped feeling like yours. You didn’t notice it happening.
You just drifted.
If this sounds like you, keep reading.
2020
It was definitely me.
At 56, I’m not a lifelong athlete or a cinematic success story; I’m a man who spent years as a long-running experiment in physical neglect, lurching between half-hearted efforts and the comfort of bad habits. After a humiliating shoulder injury in 2022 and years of trying to "out-run" a chaotic diet of impulse and nostalgia, I finally stopped waiting for a miracle and committed to the unsexy, monastic grind of consistency. Since March 2025, I’ve dropped from 207 to 163 pounds by accepting a truth that doesn't sell supplements: intensity is a distraction, recovery is non-negotiable, and you cannot out-train a garbage diet. This journey hasn't been glamorous; it’s been a slow, repetitive, and occasionally humbling negotiation with my own aging body. But it’s proof that even after a lifetime of screwing up, you can still claw your way forward if you're willing to show up and do the work no one applauds.
My own fitness journey led me to become an ACE-Certified Personal Trainer. The goal of Own Every Year is to help regular men, like me (and you) who may not have been born in the gym, but are finally ready to put aside the excuses of being "too busy" or "too old" or "not a gym bro", and fully commit to being the best versions of ourselves.
For our families.
For our future.
For ourselves.

The Own Every Year Protocol
Owning the years ahead requires more than just showing up at the gym. These five pillars form the blueprint for your transformation, ensuring you have the strength, energy, and mental clarity to thrive for the next thirty-plus years.
NUTRITION: THE NON-NEGOTIABLE
You can't out-run or out-train a bad diet. Trust me, I've tried.
But ... starvation diets and strict deprivation are a young man's game - and they fail long-term. We focus on fueling your body and mind for muscle growth, steady daily energy, and sustainable habits that fit YOUR lifestyle.
STRENGTH TRAINING: FUNCTIONAL RESISTANCE
We aren’t training for powerlifting trophies. Or for a spot on the US Olympic Team.
We train to build injury-resistant muscle, protect your bone density, and ensure your joints feel better at 50, 60, or even 70 and beyond, than they did at 30.
CARDIO: THE LIFESPAN ENGINE
What's the best cardio exercise? Whatever you can do that keeps you coming back. Run, dance, box, cycle, swim, hike ... it's all good.
We focus on efficient, smart cardiovascular training that builds a resilient heart, torches stress, and gives you the energy to keep pace with life.
REST: STRATEGIC RECOVERY
You don't grow in the gym; you grow during recovery.
We optimize your sleep, manage stress triggers, and design smart rest periods into your routine so you can perform at your peak without burning out.
MENTAL WELL-BEING
The best workout program in the world is useless if you can't stay consistent because your mind and soul are a mess.
We break through the old mental friction, shift your daily habits, and build the accountability needed to sustain this for the next thirty-plus years.
Take the first step on a journey that pushes you to the limit
